About Susan L. Amato, J.D.

Susan Amato is an experienced domestic relations attorney and mediator. Since 1987, when she began her practice in mediation, she has made client satisfaction her first priority. She believes that when a couple enters a divorce process, it's important to support the parenting relationship, to preserve finances as much as possible and to work towards a successful post-divorce family system. This approach is the most positive and healthy way of addressing a very emotional and stressful time in your life.

Through her experience in maritial and family law matters, Ms. Amato has represented hundreds of individuals in a wide variety of issues relating to divorce, custody, domestic violence, and paternity mediation and litigation. She has an established reputation in dispute resolution with the focus of her practice on conflict resolution, particuarly mediation and collaborative law, and she offers these options to her clients as well as litigation.

Ms. Amato is a member of the Missouri Bar Association, the United States District Court of the Eastern District of Missouri, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. She is also a member of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis; the Women Lawyer's Association; The Academy of Family and Conciliation Courts; the International Association of Collaborative Professionals, and is an Advanced Practioner Member of the Family Section of the Association for Conflict Resolution. Ms. Amato served as the founding President of the Collaboative Family Law Association in St. Louis and has appeared in the media speaking on behalf of Collaborative Family Law.
